PlayStation 3 Launch Dates you Should Not Miss

PlayStation 3 Launch Dates you Should Not Miss

Video game consoles are on the loose. Since the Magnavox Odyssey era, video gaming systems are evolving to become one of the most powerful machines in the entertainment industry that ever existed. From the simple animation and mono background game music during the Atari years, video game consoles nowadays will make you feel that you are the one fighting monsters, racing with other cars, or shooting the ball to the hoop right in front of your opponent because of advanced three-dimensional animation technology, thanks to game software developers.

Thus, do not be surprised if video game consoles are now on the transition to the so-called “seventh generation”. Despite of the video game crash in 1977 wherein many game manufacturers abandoned the game console manufacturing industry due to unpopularity, gaming firms who have left in the battlefield tried to win the hearts of the gaming public, especially the younger generation, by producing high-quality games compatible to their consoles. And with the success of these gaming firms, video game consoles stand to its popularity among gamers of varying age groups, which eventually paved the way to the birth of the seventh generation of video game consoles.

The seventh generation began by the introduction of Microsoft’s Xbox 360 in November 2005, following the huge success of its predecessor, the Xbox. Since then, rival game console manufacturers began producing new genres of video game consoles, each one having unique characteristic from its rival consoles or predecessors alike. Thus, the generation is branded to be a “console war” in the history of interactive entertainment.

Following the success of Sony Corporation’s PlayStation 1 and 2, they are determined to maintain their dominance in the game console market. Thus, in May 16, 2005 at the E3 Conference, Japan’s leading electronic company, under its computer entertainment subsidiary, formally unveiled to the public the latest member of the PlayStation 3 series—the PlayStation 3 (PS3). It is expected to compete with its two rival game consoles, which are the Nintendo’s Wii and the Xbox 360.

PlayStation 3 is scheduled to be released on the following launch dates:

• The first release is scheduled in November 11, 2006 at Japan.
• Six days after the Japan debut, PS3’s launch date in Canada and United States would be on November 17 of the same year.
• On the other hand, the launch date of PS3 on Australasia and Europe is scheduled to be on March 2007, with the definite date pending on the decision of Sony Corporation.

On these launch dates, Sony has plans of releasing two different configurations for the PlayStation 3. The first one is known as the “premium version”, where the video game console will come with a 60 GB internal hard drive with multiple flash memory card readers and Wi-Fi or wireless internet connectivity. The other is known as the “alternate configuration” in which the video game console will come in lower internal hard drive (20 GB to be exact) and without Wi-Fi connectivity and memory card reader features, though the hard drive of the alternate configuration can be upgraded and memory card support can be added through the use of adapters.

Despite of the different launch dates of PlayStation 3, it is expected to be a hit for countries where it would be initially released. Watch out for the launch dates mentioned above and experience the interactive entertainment courtesy of PlayStation 3.

An Introductory to the Famous Game Systems

An Introductory to the Famous Game Systems in the US and Around the World

According to one survey of a major console manufacturer, 1 of every 4 households owns a product made by the former. That number does not include the households that own other makes video gaming systems.

Video game systems are also called as consoles. These gadgets are hardware where the video games are read and actually played. Consoles can be best described as the terminal where video games are converted into software and are actually transmitted to a monitor. Consoles are extraordinary boxes powered by alternating or direct current. These consoles come out in different sizes, forms and color depending on the manufacturer. There are consoles that are exclusively made for a certain game or game make. The controls, maybe a joystick or a gun, of a console is different from the other. This is why not all games can be played on a certain console.

Every console makes and the manufacturer can easily become famous especially if the said console make can read many games. Gamers would actually look for the gadget that can cater not just to one or three games but as many as possible. For a manufacturer, to be famous means to be innovative. People would normally grab things which are new to them. So to make the product sell, makers must put new features and other innovations in the product.

There are so many consoles available nowadays. And its manufacturers keep on developing new consoles every now and then to stay ahead in the market. The US is one of the world’s largest video game enthusiast countries and they are the fastest innovators. Here are three most famous video game systems in the US:

• MICROSOFT XBOX – this console is made by Microsoft Company. The first console Microsoft released is the Xbox. The Xbox is a desktop style console that has lower memory and specs as compared to its successor. Four years after, Microsoft then introduced Xbox 360 in the market. This is a tower console that can read even PC games. This contains a 3.2 GHz processor with a memory of 512MB. It has the highest hard drive memory for a video game console which is 20 GB. XBOX 360 can be used for online gaming. With the high technology and specifications Microsoft infused with their console, better graphics can be used by game developers to make the game more realistic.

• SONY PLAYSTATION – this console or video game system was made by Sony Company. There are already many versions of consoles that Sony has made. It all Started with the PS 1. Originally, PS 1 is a console that reads computer games stored in a disc. PS also uses a memory card which stores level, scores etc. The most anticipated version of Play Station is the PS 2 in 2001. It is basically a remake of the PS 1 but with several improvements. The latest released console by Sony is the PSP or the Play Station Portable. It is a handheld DC powered console. Sony has this new console ready to be released this year. This console is considered to be the seventh generation video game system that Sony has made. This will be released on November 11 in Japan and on 17 in North America. Basically, PS3 is the successor of PS2 that was hugely successful.

• NINTENDO GAMECUBE and WII– this is the latest release of Nintendo. Like its first video game systems, GameCube also uses its original gamepad. After Family Computer, Nintendo never stopped improving their home consoles even when they arrived at an amazing console tagged as GameCube. Nintendo, like any other console maker, never stops discovering new things and making new consoles. This November, Nintendo is going to release their newest console; Nintendo Wii. It can comparably be leveled to Microsoft’s Xbox360 and Sony’s PS3. Nintendo Wii is only 8.5 inches long and 6 inches wide and the thickness of this console is only about 2 inches. One of its newest innovations is a Nunchuk looking wireless gamepads.

There are still so many video game systems that are sprouting out and making their own name in the industry. As the demands of the gamers keep on leveling up, makers also strive hard to produce video game systems that do not just sell well but become famous with most gamers.

How To Keep Kids Active And Entertained

How Do You Keep Kids Active And Entertained?

During vacation time, many children–and their parents–are looking for fun activities to keep them occupied. Parents need to look no further than their local toy store for inspiration to keep children busy, entertained and active during the summer months.

Bob Weinberg, Senior Vice President of Merchandising for KB Toys, the nation’s largest mall-based toy store, offers a few fun ideas:

Burn Some Energy-Encourage children to bring the whole neighborhood together with a friendly sports game. Baseball, basketball, badminton, and soccer are great team sports for children of any skill level. In addition to team sports, tennis is a great way to spend time with your children while teaching them coordination skills. Kids will benefit from the personal attention and everyone will benefit from the great workout.

Keep Cool-On a hot day of outdoor play, there is no better way to cool off than with water play. Spice up a game of Marco Polo by using squirt guns such as the Shield Blaster 1000 or add them to a game of capture the flag to add some excitement. Kids generally won’t mind being active on a hot day when a cool splash is in their future.

Take the Fun With You-If there’s a vacation in your plans, pack some entertaining travel toys to avoid hearing “are we there yet?” Mini travel games, such as electronic Sudoku puzzles, offer hours of fun with unlimited puzzles and millions of test questions. Video travel activities such as the Disney Dream Sketchers inspire creativity and allow kids to draw on the touchscreen and create lines, shapes, colors, and patterns.

Don’t Take a Vacation From Learning-Keep your child’s mind sharp with fun educational toys such as VTech’s V. Smile Learning Systems, which offer a combination of television and video games to create an educational experience for children ages 3 to 7. Tweens can enjoy LeapFrog’s Fly Pentop Computer that can do anything from solving math problems to recording your own tunes with a drum and keyboard.

Lastly, on a rainy day, visit a museum, nature center or even a toy store that encourages interactivity and a chance to try the newest toys of the season. Stores like KB Toys encourage kids (and kids at heart) to spend time playing with favorite toys, such as the popular Bubble Bellies Bubble Maker-Bubblesaurus. Store associates can be a great resource and can help direct you to unique and popular toys, as well as provide activity ideas to help prevent children’s boredom and parents’ headaches.

Kids can have a bubbly good time with some of today’s delightful toys-sometimes right in the store.

System Specifications needed for the Da Vinci Code Computer Game

The Da Vinci Code Computer Video Game System Requirements

System requirements are not just applicable to some games; these are part of every game. There is no game that exists today that does not have any system requirement for the computer to properly run the game. Aside from that, almost all game requirements are considerably on the part of the hardware device that a gamer must possess.

Video games have lesser system requirements or hardware device requirements because these games are preset to a certain device that is constantly made. Or it can be better said that game programmers adapt with the present hardware device or known as the console that their game can play with.

Other video game makers make their own video game consoles which lessen the requirements of the system that is to needed to play the game. However, games cannot be regulated in the sense that only those game console makers are allowed to make game programs. There is no law that rules over the regulation of game production in that matter. There are plenty of independent game makers that are not connected, whether in part or in whole, with big game console producers. These game makers just depend on the mainstream hardware device that can be used for their game.

The most common hardware that is being used to play with certain games is the personal computer. However, there are plenty of versions and specifications that are present nowadays that a personal computer may have. You may find different makes and capacity of processors, video cards, sound cards, RAM, etc. in the market. These specifications are very helpful in thinking what your computer may do for you.

All games have their own system requirements. These specifications are required to attain a good sound, good video output and good playing output for the player. When one or several requirements are not met, chances are that the player will never enjoy the game to its fullest capacity. Just imagine playing a game with a choppy computer, or with a very poor sound, or even unrealistic display, surely one will never be happy with the game.

One of the games that may require special specification to the user is the Da Vinci Code. This game was inspired by the book and the movie that was shown early this year. This game is about Robert Langdon and Sophie Neveu’s quest for answers on the secrets of the Priory of Sion and other sects. Their quest was later situated in the game of death when they discover a very critical secret which can possibly ruin the Catholic faith.

The system requirement of the Da Vinci Code game is primarily applicable to personal computers. The basic system requirements are the ones being given ceiling.

Here are the system requirements for the game Da Vinci Code:

• Processor – the speed of the processor that is required to play this game is 1.8 GHz. The make is no longer important but the one made by Pentium is more advisable. The speed of the processor is the one that will determine how fast your computer will be able to execute any command from the game. This will be responsible for sending and accepting data coming from the user. The Da Vinci Code game requires speeds like this because the visual display and other feature of this game are really high.

• Environment – this game can run on Windows 2000, Windows XP or any higher environment available.

• RAM – the requirement of this game for RAM is as high as 512MB. This memory is used to temporarily store data that will be sent to the processor. The faster the RAM the faster the processor will execute.

• Disc Space – for a better gaming experience, the Da Vinci Cod Game requires 3GB hard disc space. Too large for a normal computer disc space but just perfect to play Da Vinci Code game.

• Video Card – for a good resolution of graphics, the game needs a 64MB DirectX 9c compatible graphics card.

• CD-ROM – the game requires the average speed of the CD-ROM that equals to 6X. However, the game prefers the user to use a DVD-ROM instead.

In the game, there are places included that are not stated in the book nor in the movie. The player is going to solve meta puzzles and decipher codes from a cryptex. There are 90 levels that a player must finish. If your computer meets or exceeds the requirements, then you will have a better operation of the game allowing you to fully enjoy every aspect of it.

Robot Toy: The New Generation Play Tool

Robot Toy The New Generation Play Tool

Gone are the days when children satisfied themselves with simple games of hopscotch or tag. Heck, there are practically no more “simple toys” in the toy market nowadays wherein it’s slowly being dominated by more and more complicated contraptions. From toy PDA electronic models to enhanced walkie-talkies, children nowadays have more discerning taste when it comes to their playing pleasure. So in an age wherein cell phones and digital cameras are just all too common, what’s really the buzz about the wonders of a robot toy? What makes a robot toy tick? And probably, most important, what makes a robot toy click? To put things simply, an electronic robot toy is an extremely sophisticated piece of technology especially for children who have always been used to playing with either plastic, wooden or plush toys.

Things are indeed a-changing nowadays, a robot toy is practically what each and every kid, well boys that is asked for on his wish list.
Starting with the very hip and ultra high-tech robot toy, Robo Sapien which promises to be a whole more than just a simple robot toy. A smart robot toy like this actually tries to break the mold ordinary plastic robot toys that only have blinking lights and beeping sound effects. Robot toys that are available in the market today are far more sophisticated than that especially since they’ve been able to make these robot toys more interactive. A very important factor when it comes to ensuring its saleability in this rapidly changing world of toy commerce.

Video games have been a common staple when it comes to electronic toy gadgets for children, however, these cannot be considered as a robot toy. The once popular Tamagotchi may look and feel like a video game but it is actually, in fact, a robot toy as well. What’s differentiates the Tamagotchi from being a video game you might ask? Well, for one thing, video games are just electronic role-playing mind games wherein you have a specific goal or task that must be taken care of while a robot toy like the Tamagotchi is actually highly dependent on the interaction between the Tamagotchi and the user. The Tamagotchi is actually a simulation of what is supposed to be of an animal, just like ordinary toy robots which are mock-ups of human beings while a video game is merely an audiovisual device that is used to play games.

There are actually all sorts of robot toys available in the market today, from highly sophisticated, not to mention, costly, Robo Sapien to outdated Tamagotchis to high tech robot toy pets that have caused quite a stir even in Japan wherein people don’t really have that much time to take care of a real dog. Robo pets have been creating a lot of buzz in the toy market because of its highly innovative design and almost lifelike actions, Robo pets usually come in either a pet dog or a pet cat. It can play fetch, run, heel, even bark at you.

This robot pet has certainly come a long, long way from the old wind-up robot toys that used to be every kid’s fancy. Come to think of it, not only children are getting into the whole robot toy craze, with many grown adults now getting more and more hooked to the highly sophisticated robot toys in the market. Considering that adults do have the spending power as compared with children who are still reliant on their parents’ mercy, toy companies are also trying to come out with robot toys that can be appreciated by adults as well.

Bit Torrent Vs Apple The Battle For Your Video Downloads

Bit Torrent Vs Apple The Battle For Your Video Downloads

The high Steaks poker Game Has begun; Hollywood watches and waits. As Bit Torrent takes on Apple in a battle for your video downloads.

Earlier this year Apple pushes for and gets removal of DRM (digital rights management) from music and video downloads on Itunes. Just as Bit Torrent goes head to head with Itunes on video downloads.

In February Bit Torrent Inc, the internet company founded by Bram Cohen opened it’s new entertainment web site.

For those who don’t know about Bit Torrent yet, it is a protocol, that can be used free of charge to download large files quickly over the internet using very little band width, It was invented by Bram Cohen. (to learn about bit torrent and how it works go to see the resources box at the end of this article)

Last year Cohen’s company entered into agreements with several movie companies among them Paramount, Warner Brothers, MGM,20th Century Fox and MTV networks. This was the ground work for them to build their business model for a broad market video download service. MTV is a key company because of it’s market demographics.

Apple was quick to follow suit and made it’s own agreements with various movie companies.

This latest effort by Bit Torrent will offer a strong competition to Apple’s Itunes as well as other movie download sites, such as ,Walmart and don‘t forget DirectTV and cable on demand services.

What Bit Torrent offers is rental downloads, purchase downloads and some free downloads. It also offers an opportunity for you to publish your own torrents. Very attractive to new producers of video content. This appears to be a move to create a home for original content providers at the Bit Torrent web site.

You might say that is all well and good but how do I watch the content on my big screen TV? Good question.

Two months ago Bit Torrent announced it’s partnership with the company Netgear , which has developed a small inexpensive interface cable box to use to transfer your movies, video and other content from your computer to your TV. Hmm…. sounds a lot like Apple TV.

In an interview on CNBC May 3, 2007 Patrick Lo, the chief executive of Netgear said that Netgear’s plan is to use it’s wireless networks in the home to drive content from the internet to the home TV and make everyone’s home a wireless network.

Not so fast Bit Torrent; last week Apple counters with , what else, video on demand.

London’s financial Times wrote an article indicating that Apple would be offering a video on demand download service in the Fall. And the downloads would be rentals that would cost .99. These rental downloads would be good for thirty days and could be shared on one or more of Apple’s devices, Apple TV, iphone or ipod.

This latest move by Apple seems to have placed Apple and Bit Torrent in direct competition with all other video on demand services, which include Amazon’s service, Netflix service and the cable and direct TV companies services.

The gamble would appear to be for Apple and Bit Torrent to drive these other services to a point where they are marginal players and for one of them, that is Bit Torrent or Apple to emerge as the consumer favorite for video and internet content downloads and streaming wirelessly.

A question arises; where is Microsoft in all this? Are they missing the boat again? Or just waiting for the dust to clear?

Hollywood is placing bets on as many power players as it can; hence the agreements with both Bit Torrent and Apple waiting to see who comes out on top.

With the great number of video games for sale and the huge variety of video games that are downloadable through the internet, it probably will not surprise you to learn that 60 percent of the American population has played some kind of video game. They are rivalling baseball as the great American pastime. Indeed, there are versions of baseball and NFL available as video games. Video games grew out of our fascination with computers and they are played by young and old alike. Video game playing is not limited to kids and teenagers, although children are starting to play video games at younger and more tender ages.

Nearly half of all American children aged 4 to 6 are estimated to have played video games, and a new market has sprung up to develop video games to involve toddlers and make computers more attractive for them to use. More attractive to children! Kids take to computers better than ducks to water, and stay connected for life. As of 2005, a quarter of the children in the aged four to six age group who have played computer games say it is a regular habit. The toddler, of course, cannot yet talk about their video game habits. But their parents report that children, especially boys have lost interest in playing with their traditional toys like action figures, Legos, and puzzles and prefer video games. However, kids are not the primary users of video games. Their parents played video games as children and teenagers.

We are now experiencing the phenomenon of second-generation video game players. Video games have been around since the 1970’s, clearly enough time for some third generation players to come upon the scene. Side to side, mouse to mouse with the kids are the adults who have never stopped playing or who began playing as adults. Adults represent the largest group of video game players and the average age of video gamers is 29. Certainly, the older generation has the good sense to avoid this costly, time consuming habit, you may think. Think again – 17 percent of gamers are 50 years of age and older. If this keeps up, retirement communities are no longer able to offer Bingo and Cribbage as recreational bonuses. The baby boom generation will head into its twilight years amid Dungeons and Dragons competitions.

The joy of mindlessly zoning out in virtual reality instead of actually doing something or speaking to someone is so compelling that video games are now a multibillion-dollar business. The video game companies often rival the stock exchange earnings of energy corporations and pharmaceutical companies. Nintendo often beats the earnings of major Hollywood studios. In 2004, 9.9 billion dollars was spent on video games, on consoles like PlayStation 2, Xbox, and GameCube, and on hand-held systems like Game Boy and Nintendo DS in the U.S. alone. Of course, America is the leader in video game retail but the rest of the world is far behind, making video game stocks a hot commodity. But no one is interested in “playing “ the stock market anymore; they’re all to busy playing video games.
